Read about the health benefits of tangerines that you probably didn’t know about.

Mandarins are delicious and few people don’t like them. Do you know that they provide more than just a meal? This citrus fruit has multiple health benefits – it reduces the risk of cancer, encourages weight loss …

Mandarins can reduce the risk of cancer

Mandarins can reduce the risk of liver cancer. Namely, scientists at Kyoto University have found that people who have chronic viral hepatitis can reduce their risk of developing liver cancer if they drink fresh mandarin juice. In a one-year study, 30 participants who had viral hepatitis consumed a drink containing mandarin juice on a daily basis, had no signs of liver cancer. In contrast, among 45 participants who did not drink mandarin drink, 8.9 percent developed liver cancer.

Mandarins are a good source of vitamin C.

Mandarins can give you up to 80 percent of the required daily intake of vitamin C. And vitamin C is useful in many ways, for example in the fight against free radicals. These are molecules with an odd number of electrons that seek their pair by stealing electrons from stable free radicals. This causes a chain reaction, ie. the transition from stable free radicals to unstable ones, which can eventually lead to bodily damage, such as protein damage and DNA damage. Antioxidants help prevent this chain reaction and stop the damage, which, among other things, strengthens the immunity.

Mandarins also affect cholesterol

The antioxidants in mandarin can lower bad cholesterol levels. They achieve this by fighting free radicals that oxidize cholesterol, so it easily accumulates on the walls of arteries. If cholesterol accumulates, the blood moves slowly in the arteries, which can increase the risk of high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease and liver disease.

Mandarins will help you lose weight

Mandarins are a source of dietary fiber, as much as 3 g of fiber per 100 g. And regular fiber intake helps you feel full for longer. In general, children and adults should take about 20 g of fiber a day. However, you may need to take in more, depending on the amount of calories you consume. For example, men and teenagers may need to eat about 30 to 35 grams of fiber a day. Eating mandarins will satisfy this daily need with pleasure.
