Psychological tricks for an easier life

Each of us is unique, but psychologists do not stop finding patterns of behavior that we have in common since childhood. Here are some psychological tricks that will help you get along better with others and that will make your life easier.

1. To know if someone likes you, choose one word and every time your interlocutor utters or uses similar expressions, nod your head and smile. If she likes you, you will soon notice that that person will start using that word all the time.

2. If you want people to take you seriously, tell them that’s what your father said. People are unconsciously inclined to believe their father’s advice.

3. Become a champion in the game Paper, Stone Scissors by asking any question to your opponent just before the game. In most cases, players suddenly choose scissors.

4. If you want the interlocutor to agree with you, don’t forget to nod your head when you ask him a question. This movement implies that everything you say is the only truth. In addition, by following the rules of social behavior, people tend to give consent in response.

5. Have you ever dreamed of a completely empty bus stop at eight in the morning? In places full of people, look in the direction of your movement. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to push the crowd aside letting you pass. The secret is simple: in places full of people, look directly into the eyes of other pedestrians to understand where they are going and thus avoid colliding with them.

6. If you are constantly singing a song and you can’t get it out of your head, remember its ending. According to the Zeigarnik effect, our brain remembers unfinished actions much better. Accordingly, if you think about how the song ends, it will disappear on its own.

7. Do you want your children to eat broccoli? Instead of asking them if they want to, ask them how many flowers they want you to pour: five or two. This way you have already decided for them, but the children feel as if the decision is theirs. You can apply this trick in other situations as well.

8. If you think someone is spying on you, just yawn and look at the people around you. As yawning is contagious, you will surely find out who is watching you.

9. A friend will help you bring any item, such as a box, if you continue the conversation while adding it to him. Most people will not notice the trap and will take the box.

10. If you are going to shake hands with someone, make sure your hands are warm. Warm hands are associated with kindness, while touching a cold hand can cause repulsion and discomfort.

11. Rephrase what your interlocutor said and repeat it. They will see that you really listen to him and, most importantly, that you understand him. But of course, one should not exaggerate.

12. If they want to help you, start your request with the words – I need your help … People don’t like to feel guilty and that’s why they won’t be able to refuse.

13. If someone doesn’t like you, ask for a ballpoint pen. On the one hand, people don’t usually help those they don’t like, but on the other hand, it’s too small a favor to turn you down. This way, the person will convince themselves that, after all, you are not that bad.
