How to increase your self esteem

I hate my body, I’m so ugly, I’d like to look like them, I hate myself – Does that sound familiar to you? In that case, maybe it’s time to work on your self-esteem!

Low self-esteem can be very harmful. It can damage your emotional health, it can damage your physical health, and it can damage your relationships with other people. To help yourself increase your self-esteem, try some of the suggestions below and stop allowing your low self-esteem to stand in the way of your life!

The first thing that people with low self-esteem need to know is that the only people who can make them feel bad about themselves are themselves. Other people may say evil and painful things, but you decide how to react to it. You can accept and believe in it, and allow them to hurt you, or you can accept, reject, and realize that the only reason they let you down is that they feel better about themselves.

Another thing, if you are near people who make you feel negative about yourself, remove them from your life. Surround yourself with positive, optimistic people who support and love you just the way you are. When you are in the company of people who radiate positivity, you will start to feel better about yourself.

Third, focus on your positive traits, not the negative ones. We all have things we would like to change about ourselves – stretch marks on our legs or excess fat on our stomach – however, focusing on those things will only reduce our self-esteem. It is very important to understand that all people have flaws and that all people have things they would like to change. But what about the things you love? That beautiful smile, that amazing personality and that big heart are things that are much more important and that you need to focus on.

If you’ve gone so far as to love nothing about yourself, lie! Believe it or not, if you pretend to feel good about something, you can start to really feel good about it! So, even if you don’t feel it, walk with pride and flaunt your belongings. Once you see how people start treating you differently, your self-esteem will increase on its own.

Lastly, give yourself time to take care of yourself. Keep yourself active and well-groomed. By becoming more active, you increase the endorphins in your body, thus immediately improving your mood. Be constantly busy and do things that make you feel good about yourself. If making money makes you happy, look for a job, if volunteering at a homeless center makes you happy, do it! And finally, keep yourself well-groomed.

When you feel bad about yourself, increasing your self-esteem may seem like an impossible mission. Fortunately, that is not the case! Follow a few simple steps listed above and watch the changes happen in you almost immediately!
